The next step is to determine the характеристики modifier quality for your народ. In many ways, choosing this quality is one of the most important choices when creating a new народ, as it determines many of the native abilities of that народ.

With the exception of the human heritage modifier quality, when you choose a народы характеристики modifiers, you are choosing what характеристикиs are modified for every member of that народ. Only the human heritage modifier quality allows individual members to decide which характеристики is modified during character создание.

Most of the характеристики modifier qualities divide характеристикиs into two broad categories that each represent three of the six abilities: physical (Сила, Ловкость, and Выносливость) and mental (Интеллект, Мудрость, and Харизма).

With the exception of the human heritage modifier quality, bonuses granted to характеристикиs with one of these qualities count as бонус народаes for the purpose of qualifying for особенность народа prerequisites.

Advanced (4 RP): Предпосылки: Advanced or monstrous power level; Modifiers: Pick either mental or physical характеристикиs. Members of this народ gain a +2 bonus to all of those scores, a +4 bonus to one score of the other type, and a -2 penalty to one other характеристики of the other type.

Flexible (2 RP): Members of this народ gain a +2 bonus to any two характеристикиs.

Greater Paragon (2 RP): Members of this народ gain a +4 bonus to one характеристики, a -2 penalty to one physical характеристики, and a -2 penalty to one mental характеристики.

Greater Weakness (-3 RP): Pick either mental or physical характеристикиs. Members of this народ take a -4 penalty to one of those характеристикиs, a -2 penalty to another of those характеристикиs, and a +2 bonus to the other характеристики.

Human Heritage (0 RP): Предпосылки: Human subtype; Modifiers: Members of this народ gain a +2 to any single характеристики of your choice during character создание.

Mixed Weakness (-2 RP): Pick either mental or physical характеристикиs. Members of this народ gain a +2 bonus to one характеристики of that type and a -2 penalty to another характеристики of that type. They also gain a +2 bonus to one характеристики of the other type and a -4 penalty to another характеристики of the other type.

Paragon (1 RP): Members of this народ gain a +4 bonus to a single характеристики, and a -2 penalty to either all physical or all mental характеристикиs. If the bonus is to a single physical характеристики, the penalties apply to all mental характеристикиs, and vice versa.

Specialized (1 RP): Pick either mental or physical характеристикиs. Members of this народ gain a +2 bonus to two характеристикиs of the chosen type, and a -2 penalty to one характеристики of the other type.

Standard (0 RP): Members of this народ gain a +2 bonus to one physical характеристики, a +2 bonus to one mental характеристики, and a -2 penalty to any other характеристики.

Weakness (-1 RP): Members of this народ gain a +2 bonus to one physical характеристики, a +2 bonus to one mental характеристики, and a -4 penalty to any other характеристики.

 

CHALLENGING ADVANCED AND MONSTROUS народы

Because they have powerful особенности народа and abilities, advanced and monstrous народы require greater challenges, especially at lower levels. The basic guideлиния for accomplishing this is to treat a group of characters with advanced and monstrous народы as a level or more higher for a number of levels based on their total RP spent, using the following chart. Calculate the party’s adjusted average party level, and use that number, rather than the actual APL, when creating encounters and adventures for the group. For groups with mixed power levels, average the RP and round the result to the nearest multiple of 10.

LANGUAGE QUALITY

The next step is to pick the народы language quality. This quality determines the starting languages and дополнительные языкиs for the народ. There are three options. In cases where the language trait instructs you to choose a racial language, that language is either the народы racial language (if any; feel free to create a new language for the народ if you желание), Draconic (if it is a гуманоид with the reptilian subtype), or, if the народ is of the потустороннее существо (native) type, one of the планарное languages (Abyssal, Aquan, Auran, Celestial, Ignan, Infernal, or Terran) of the corresponding plane. (Creatures tied to Abaddon can take either Abyssal or Infernal as a racial language.) If your народ is native to the Darklands, you can replace Common with Undercommon. See the Языкознание skill entry on pages 100-102 of the Core Rulebook for a list of languages.

Linguist (1 RP): Members of this народ start with Common plus their racial language (if any). Furthermore, members of this народ with high Интеллект scores can learn any languages they want (except друидic and other secret languages).

Предпосылки: Some особенности народа have prerequisites. Your народ must meet any prerequisites listed in this entry before you can take the trait. Some traits require a specific type or subtype, while others require that you take other особенности народа or qualities before you take it.

Преимущества: This is the benefit the особенность народа grants the members of the народ you are creating.

Special: This includes additional facts about the особенность народа.

гуманоид SUBTYPES AS PREREQUISITES

There are a number of особенности народа that require a certain гуманоид subtype as a prerequisite. This is usually the case when a особенность народа mentions a народ in its name. As the GM, you can view these subtype prerequisites as внушениеs and indicators as to what kinds of народы or гуманоид subtypes would usually take these traits. Feel free to change the name or racial subtype prerequisite of such a trait to better fit the народ you are building.
