Grammar / should, can, have to

• Positive sentences are formed by putting the modal verb between the subject and the main verb:

We should stay.

You can go.

They have to come.

 

Negative sentences are formed by adding not (or n't) tothe modal verb:

We shouldn't stay.

You cannot go.

Note: They don’t have to come.

 

• Questions are formed by changing the position of the modal verb and the subject:

Should we stay? Shouldn't we stay?

Can I go?

Note: Do they have to come?

Use:

should (n’t) – when you think something is a good /bad idea.

can’t –when something is impossible.

have to - when something is necessary and there is no choice.

don’t have to - when something is not necessary and there is a choice

· Make a list of specific places you plan to advertise as well as some practical details you plan to write about (hotels, transport, prices).

3. Try to plan one day of activities for visitors, such as places to visit and how to get around.

4. In groups of three or four design and write a brochure for print or a website for your destination. Use pictures and maps. Then share your material with the class. Which place would you choose and why?
