1) В пределах каждых трёх разрядов перед десятками (а если их нет, то перед единицами) ставится союз and:

375 – three hundred and seventy-five
305 – three hundred and five
2,075 – two thousand and seventy-five
2,005 – two thousand and five
1,225,375 – one million two hundred and twenty-five thousand three hundred and seventy-five

 

2) Числительные hundred, thousand и million не принимают окончания -s, когда перед ними стоит числительное two, three, four и т. д.:

two hundred three thousand four million

 

Hundred, thousand и million могут, однако, принимать окончание -s, когда они выражают неопределенное количество сотен, тысяч, миллионов. В этом случае после них употребляется существительное с предлогом of:

Hundred s of students were present at the meeting. – Сотни студентов присутствовали на собрании.
Thousand s of people greeted the Russian representatives. – Тысячи людей приветствовали

Российских представителей.

 

 

3) Годы произносятся:

 

1652 – sixteen fifty-two

1998 – nineteen ninety-eight

2010 – twenty ten

2036 – twenty thirty-six

Но! С 2000 по 2009г: 2000 – the year two thousand

2001 – two thousand and one

2009 – two thousand and nine

 

II. Порядковые Числительные / Ordinal Numerals

1) Перед порядковым числительным может стоять и неопределенный артикль. В этом случае числительное приобретает значение «другой, еще один»:

We sent them a second telegram. – Мы послали им вторую (еще одну) телеграмму.

 

2) При обозначении номеров глав, страниц, параграфов, частей книг, актов пьес и т. п. чаще употребляются количественные числительные

 

the first part = part one первая часть
the fifth chapter = chapter five пятая глава
the ninth paragraph = paragraph nine девятый параграф
the twenty-first page = page twenty-one - двадцать первая страница

 

3) При обозначении номеров домов, комнат, автобусов, размеров обуви и одежды употребляются количественные числительные

 

The lecture will take place in classroom No. 15 (читается: room fifteen). – Лекция состоится в пятнадцатой аудитории (в аудитории № 15).
Не lives in flat 10 (читается: flat ten). – Он живет в десятой квартире.
Не wears size forty shoes. Он носит обувь сорокового размера.

 

4) Даты произносятся:

10 January – the ten th of January

26 October, 2017 – the twenty-six th of October, twenty seventeen
