VEHICLEFACINGANDMOVEMENT

Vehiclesdonotmovelikecreatures,evenwhentheyusecreaturesaspropulsion.Theytendtomoveinthedirectionoftheirforwardfacing,anddosoquickly.

Facing:Unlikecreatures,mostvehicleshaveaforwardfacing.Thefacingofthevehicledeterminesitsbestpathofpropulsion.Vehiclesareverygoodatmovinginthedirectionoftheirforwardfacing,butittakestimeandskilltomovetheminotherdirections.Ahorse-pulledwagonmovesforwardquicklyandwithease,butturningacornerrequirespropertimingandacrackofthewhip.Ashippropelledbyanaircurrentcantakeagreatdealofefforttostop,especiallyonceithasreachedtopбыстрое.VehiclefacingrepresentstheeffectoКрошечныйrtiaonvehicles.Whendrivencorrectly,vehiclescanmovestraightahead,diagonally,oramixofbothwithinthesamemovement.Skilleddriverscanmakeavehiclezigzaginaforwarddirectionwithease.

MANEUVERINGAVEHICLE

Thewagoninthisdiagrammaymoveintheforwarddirectionifitsucceedsatorfailsadrivingcheckwhenthedriver“accelerates,”“decelerates,”“keepsitgoing,”or“turns”thevehicle.Itmustmoveinthisdirectionifitis“uncontrolled.”Thewagonmaymoveforwarddiagonally(eitherleftorright)ifthedriversucceedsatan"accelerate"or“keepitgoing”drivingcheck,orifthedriversucceedsatorfailsa"decelerate"or"turn"drivingcheck.Itcannotmoveforwarddiagonallyifitfailsan"accelerate"or“keepitgoing”drivingcheckorifthevehicleis“uncontrolled.”

Ifavehiclecanmoveforwarddiagonally,itcanmovedirectlyforwardandanydirectionforwarddiagonally,andcanevenmixitsdiagonalmovementinanydirection,allowingittoswerveandevenzigzagifthedriversodesires.

OPTIONALRULE:WIDETURNS

Therulesforturningavehicleareasimplewayofgettingvehiclestoturnonagrid,butwhenavehicleturns,itdoesn’tdososharply,evenwhenpoweredbymagic;vehiclesrarelymaketurnsevenly.Ifthissimplesysteminvolvestoomuchabstraction,youcanhavevehiclesmakewideturns.

Havethedrivermakeadrivingcheckasusual.Ifshesucceedsatthecheck,shecanturnthevehicle.Whenavehiclemakesaturn,ithasachancetomakeavehicularвторжениеorrammingmaneuveronanycreaturewithintheturningarea,whichisasquarewithsidesequaltothevehicle’slength,withonevertextouchingthefrontfacingofthevehicleonthesideoppositetothedirectionoftheturn.Inotherwords,putthesquarewithonesideRunningalongthevehicle’sfront,perpendiculartoitsforwardfacing,andanotherRunningthedirectionofitscurrentforwardfacing.Placethesquaresoitsfarcorneriswithinthedesireddestinationofthevehicle.Iftheturnissuccessful,thevehicleendsthismovementinthatarea,facingtowardthedirectionoftheturn.

Thevehiclethenmakeseithervehicularвторжениеsorvehicularтаранes(ifthedrivermakestherequiredбыстроедействие)onallcreaturesandobjectswithinthesquarethatareНебольшойerthanit,andmakesrammingmaneuversonallcreaturesandobjectsthatareКрупныйrthanit,includingsolidobjects.Ittakesa–10penaltyonthevehicularтаранandvehicularвторжениеmaneuvers.Thedrivercanchoosetomaketheseinanyordershelikes.Shemakesthemoneatatime(evenafterthevehicleiswreckedorcomestoasuddenstop),andalleffectsarecumulative.Ifthevehicleiswreckedorcomestoasuddenstop,theGMdecidesthefinalrestinglocationwithintheturningarea,pickingthemostplausiblelocationgiventheeffects.

Forinstance,ifthesquarehastwoobjectsКрупныйrthanthevehicleandthreecreaturesНебольшойerthanit,andthedriverdecidestomaketherammingmaneuverontheobjectsfirst,andtheniswreckedduringtherammingmaneuveronthesecondobject,thevehiclestillmakesthevehicularвторжениеsontheothertwocreatures.ItendsinalocationoftheGM’schoosing.

Reverse (основноедействие):Avehiclemayonlybemovedinreverseifitisatafullstop(movementof0feet).Onasuccessfuldrivingcheck,avehiclecanmovebackwardathalfitsacceleration,movingeitherdirectlybackward(thereverseofitsforwardfacing)orbackwarddiagonally.Onafailedcheck,itdoesnotmovebackward.

DrivingaVehiclewithMagicPropulsion:Typically,avehiclewithmagicpropulsionrequiresactionsbutnodrivingchecksinordertodriveit.Whendrivingavehiclewithmagicpropulsion,treateveryactionasthoughthedriversucceededatthedrivingcheck.

DrivingaVehiclewithouttheProperSkill:Ifadriverlackstheproperskilltodriveavehicle,thedrivercanalwaysmakeaМудростьabilitycheckinsteadoftheappropriateпроверканавыка.Thedrivercaneventake10orgainthebenefitsofпомощьanotherwhenusingМудростьinsteadofthevehicle’snormaldrivingskill.

VehicleCrews:Somevehiclesrequireacrew.Avehiclewithafullcrewcomplementisaseasytocontrolasanyothervehicle.Avehiclewithoutafullcrewcomplement,butwithatleasthalfitscrew,increasesalldrivingcheckDCsby10.Avehicleneedsatleasthalfitscrewcomplementinordertobedrivenatall.Crewmemberscantakenoactionwhilethevehicleisinmotionexcepttoпомощьinthatvehicle’smovement.Acrewmemberdoesnotthreatenanarea.

 

TURNINGAVEHICLE

VEHICLESINCOMBAT

Avehicleincombatcanbecomeatargetforattacksandcanaffectcombatantswithspecialvehicularmaneuvers.Thefollowingaretherulesforhowavehicleactsinthecombatround.

Initiative:Avehiclemovesonitsdriver’sinitiative.Ifadriverdelaysorreadiesanaction,thevehiclegoesoutofcontrol,anddoesnothingexcepttaketheuncontrolledactionuntilitstopsorsomeonebecomesitsnewdriver.

Movement:Atthestartofthedriver’sturn,shemakesadrivingchecktocontrolthevehicleasdetailedintheDrivingVehiclessection.Whendoingso,shetakeswhateveractionisrequiredbeforedoinganythingelsethatturn.

Vehiclesusuallyignoredifficultterrainduetorubbleandfoliage,buttreatsteepinclinesasdifficultterrain,anddependingonthevehicletypeandGMjudgment,theymaybeaffectedbyotherdifficultterraintypesaswell.Vehiclesandcreaturesthatoccupyvehiclescanenterthespacesofothervehiclesandcreatures,thoughdoingsousuallyprovokesavehicularвторжениеorrammingmaneuver(seeVehicleБоевыеманеврыonpage177).Avehiclecanevenenditsturninthespaceofacreatureoranothervehicle.

Threatening:Vehiclescannotthreatenareas,buttheirnon-crewoccupantscan.Acharacterdrivingavehiclestillthreatensthesquaresaroundher,thoughshemayhavelimitedoptionsforattackdependingontherequirementsofthedeviceusedtodrivethevehicle.Creaturesusedaspropulsiondonotthreatenareas,andaretreatedaspartofthevehicleforpurposesofvehicularбоевыеманевры.

LineofSightan dCover:Vehiclestypicallygranttheiroccupantspartialcover(+2toКБand+1onРеакцияиспытания)againstthoseoutsidethevehicle,andmaygrantpartialcoveragainstopponentswithinthevehiclesaswell.Vehicleswithmoreprotectionorinternalchamberscanoffergreatercoverandcanevenblocklineofsight.
