SIEGEENGINEQUALITIES

Thefollowingarethevariousentriesontheequipmenttablesforsiegeengines(giveninthecolumnheadingsonTables3–13and3–15).Whilerangedsiegeenginesusemostoftheseentries,close-assaultsiegeenginesonlyusesomeofthem.

Cost:Thisvalueisthesiegeengine’scostingoldpieces(зм).Thecostincludesgearneededtoworktheengineaswellasgearforupkeep.Typicalammunitioncostsandweightsaregiveninsiegeweapondescription.

Damage:Thiscolumngivesthedamagetypicallydealtbytheengine.Iftheenginehasaspecialmodeofattackordamage,thisspaceismarkedbythewords“seedescription.”Ifthesiegeenginedoesnotdealanydamage,butratherisatoolforgettingclosetooroverfortifications,thisentryfeaturesadash(—).Somerangedsiegeenginescanbeloadedwithspecialammunitionthataffectsoroverверховаяездаstheweapon’stypicaldamageorrange.

RANGEDSIEGEENGINES

Rangedsiegeenginesassaultstructuresandpeoplefromaдальнобойное,bypropellingammunitioninsomefashion.Siegeengineshurlmassiveprojectilesinoneoftwoways:directfireorindirectfire.Bothtakeanumberofactionstoloadoraim,andthebasicrulesaredescribedbelow.

Adirect-fireweaponusesanormalattackroll,withthenormalpenaltyfornonproficientuse.Inaddition,adirect-fireweapontakesa–2attackrollpenaltyperразмерcategorythattheweaponisКрупныйrthanthecreatureaimingit.CreaturesthathaveranksinЗнание(инженерноедело)arenotadverselyaffectedbytheirразмерwhenfiringdirect-firerangedsiegeengines.

In direct-FireRangedSiegeEngines:Indirect-fireweaponslaunchprojectilesinhigharcstowardtheirtargets.Theytypicallylobheaviermissilesandpayloadsthandirect-fireweapons,buttheyarehardertoaimaccurately.Indirectweaponscanbypassmanyformsoffortification,deliveringtheirpayloadsofsolidshot,scattershot,orevendisease-riddenoffaltotargetsbeyondthewallsofcastles.Theycanalsobeusedtobatterfortificationswheretheyaremostvulnerable,arcingdownontowersandwalls,crushingthemwiththeweightofstoneorrainingdownНебольшойerprojectilesonawall’sdefenders.

Indirect-fireweaponsuseatargetingmechanicsimilartothatdescribedforcatapultsinthe CoreRulebook,hereafterreferredtoasanindirectattack.Thefollowingisanupdatetothoserules.
