8.55 – It's 5 (minutes) to 9. It's 5 till 9. (It's eight fiftyfive.)

9.45 – It's quarter to 10. (In the United States they say: It's a quarter to 10).

11.05 – It's five (minutes) past eleven. It's eleven o five. (о – от 1 до 9 включительно).

11.15 – It's quarter past eleven. (It's eleven fifteen).

11.30 – It's half past eleven.

В 10 часов – At ten o'clock (in the morning). At ten a.m.

В 13 часов – At one o'clock in the afternoon. At one p.m.

a.m. = ante meridiem (до полудня, т.е. с 0 час. до 12 час. дня).

Эта временная форма называется Present Perfect (настоящее завершённое время).

Она употребляется для выражения действия или состояния уже завершившегося к моменту речи, если результат свершившегося имеет значение в настоящий момент.

Эта форма образуется при помощи вспомогательного глагола have/has и Past Participle основного глагола.

На русский язык она переводится обычно прошедшим временем.

It's a donkey. And the instrument it's playing is called – yes, a trumpet. The donkey plays the trumpet.

Here's another animal. What is it? It's a duck. And the instrument is called – right, a xylophone ['zaɪləfəʊn]. The duck plays the xylophone.

And here we have a sheep. The sheep plays the banjo ['bændʒəʊ].

What's the name of this animal? Yes, it's a pig. What does the pig play? Right, the piano.

Here we've got a cat. The cat plays the violin [­vaɪə'lɪn]. And the singer is a cow.

It really is a very funny orchestra. Now let's go back to Mister MacDonald and his band.

MacDonald: Oh, it's nearly four o'clock. Come along, kids, and listen to our band. Don't miss the concert.
