Объемные (стереоскопические) рисунки

 

Чтобы увидеть рисунки объемными, читателю следует воспользоваться красно-зелеными очками. Глядя сквозь красное стекло, наблюдатель видит (левым глазом) только зеленую часть рисунка; глядя сквозь зеленое стекло (правым глазом) - только красную часть рисунка; вместе обе части рисунка составляют стереопару.

Перевернув очки - правый глаз видит то, что "предназначено" для левого глаза, и наоборот, - наблюдатель обнаружит новые интересные факты; например, изменится форма некоторых фигур (как следствие изменения кажущейся удаленности разных частей рисунка). В этом проявляются особенности работы "измеряющего механизма" мозга.

Дополнительные интересные эффекты наблюдатель обнаружит, наблюдая, как меняются стереокартины при движении головы, при изменении наклона книги и т. п. Общая форма стереокартин при этом меняется весьма странным образом, но картина будет все время "нацелена" в глаза наблюдателю.

Так как цветные очки позволяют дать каждому глазу обособленную часть рисунка, их можно использовать и для того, чтобы продемонстрировать читателю эффект соперничества глаз (см. рис. 67) и эффект разделения элементов рисунка, дающих при слиянии иллюзию искажения (см. рис. 68).

 

Изготовление предмета-перевертыша

 

Одна из главных тем этой книги - различие между восприятием реальных объектов и плоских изображений. В качестве иллюстраций используются каркасный куб и плоские изображения этого куба. Но именно потому, что восприятие объекта и восприятие рисунка различаются коренным образом, невозможно продемонстрировать первое при помощи второго. Поэтому будет очень хорошо, если читатель самостоятельно изготовит каркасный куб из проволоки, или из склеенных между собой спичек, или - еще лучше - из "соломинок" для коктейлей. В идеале куб следует покрыть черной матовой краской, но это условие не существенно. Реальный куб, вывертывающийся наизнанку, выглядит столь интересно, что потраченные на его изготовление усилия окупятся с лихвой.

Спиральный диск (стр.213) следует вырезать и поместить на диск проигрывателя грампластинок; вращать его следует с постоянной скоростью. Полученный при наблюдении вращающегося диска эффект последействия движения наблюдается после фиксации взора на центре диска в течение примерно полминуты.

Диск Бэнхема (стр. 215) при вращении "наводит" цвет: наблюдатель воспринимает его черно-белую поверхность как расцвеченный круг. Я рассчитал рисунок на диске таким образом, чтобы эффект достигался при малых скоростях вращения диска проигрывателя; для этого достаточно вращать его рукой. Можно также поэкспериментировать с освещением, проверяя его влияние на состав и насыщенность цвета, возникающего из черно-белой фигуры.
