                               К 90-летию со дня рождения О.Н.Коротцева

                                       (17августа 1922 г. – 15 июля 2011 г.)

   Еще 1 сентября 1993 года Международный астрономический союз(МАС) по предложению Института теоретической астрономии РАН утвердил за малой планетой №3501 название  «О л е г и я»  в честь О.Н.Коротцева.   

  Олег Николаевич Коротцев – блестящий популяризатор астрономии.  Его трудовая деятельность связана с Ленинградским планетарием,  где он работал сначала лектором,  с 1962 года - заведующим астрокабинетом,  а с 1976 по 1984 гг. - научным консультантом по астрономии и космонавтике. 

  Он написал несколько книг по естественно-научной и военно-патриотической тематике:  «Астрономия.  Популярная энциклопедия», «Астрономия для всех», «Звезды Петербурга», «Русский Икар», «Космический мемориал героев Великой Отечественной войны», «Созвездие памяти», «Звезды Пулкова»,  «Люди-звезды». Помимо этого он нописал много просветительских статей.

  В 18 лет (6.10.1940) Олег Николаевич был призван в Красную армию. Его войсковая артиллерийская часть 20 июня 1941 года получила приказ выдвинуться к западной границе в Литве, возвести на определенном участке ДОТы и развернуть орудия. Наутро 22 июня ефрейтор Олег Коротцев поднял глаза, чтобы полюбоваться ночным звездным небом,  и  вдруг увидел среди звезд странные высверки… И не сразу понял, что то были самолеты…  

  Участник Великой Отечесвенной войны, Олег Николаевич по ее окончании принимал участие в восстановлении Ленинграда, потом окончил там сначала техникум, а затем - институт в Москве.  Наверно, в Санкт-Петербургском планетарии будет написано более подробное жизнеописание.

  14 ноября 1971 года Олег Николаевич через «Комсомольскую правду» обратился к советским астрономам с предложением назвать одну из малых планет в честь Зои Космодемьянской.  Обращение было услышано и поддержано. Таким образом, благодаря О.Н.Коротцеву был создан Космический мемориал героев Великой Отечественной войны, включающий сегодня 132 планеты-памятника.                                                            В.В.Белов

  On 24-27 of January XXXVI Academic Readings on Astronautics took place in the Bauman  Technical University. Boris Chertok,  who died on December 14,  the collegue of engineer Korolev was still listed as the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Readings.  As if instead of him on the readings at the desk of the Presidium of the plenary meeting appeared huge four-volume "Rockets and People" in English, the book on the history of Soviet space exploration. Chertok had time to write it. A team of American specialists with the chief historian of NASA Dr Bill Barry at the head presented the IVth translated volume and the rest of publication and told about their work on the translation. Over 20 different sections worked on these Readings. Vadim Belov participated in the round table "50 years of planetary space research" and in the section number 6 – which is called “The history of rocket and space technology”.

In the planetarium of the Cultural Center of the armed forces of Russia on February 29 - March 3,  regular school lecturers took place. This "school" tradition was introduced by the director of the planetarium Larissa A.Panina and she still successfully supports it.  Dr Lutz Muller, the representative of the firm Zeiss from Jena, hold speech before the participants from various planetariums,  the lectures of leading Russian scientists about the latest research as near and far space also were presented. A round table discussion on "Science and pseudoscience" took place there too. Participants expressed concern over the unprecedented spread of non-scientific information on the internet and agreed on the necessity of active promotion of scientific knowledge. The School Lectures were completed with the visit to the Moscow Planetarium.

In Nizhny Novgorod planetarium:

The meeting of assets of the Association of Teachers of Physics and Astronomy of Nizhny Novgorod region was held on the 3rd of January. During the meeting the question of astronomical,  aerospace, science education were discussed.
Which began February 1 Correspondence Astro Space Olympiad for pupils from 7 to 16 years began on February 1. It was devoted to B.Chertoku, who would be 100 years old on March 1.
On 12-13 of March,  the cosmonaut Igor P.Volk visited Nizhny Novgorod. Some time ago he was a professional pilot and that is why he was appointed commander of the crew of the Soviet shuttle "Buran". I.Volk met the children and the staff of the planetarium.
On March 19 professors of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (Mumbai - Bombay, India) Swarna Kanti Ghosh (Director of National Centre for Radio Astrophysics) and Devendra Kumar Ojha (Head of infrared astronomy) also visited Nizhny Novgorod. Zinaida Sitkova told them about the IPS,  and drew their attention to the absence of IPS National Association of India. Professor stold they would discuss it in India.
March 21. Russian specialist of Microsoft Kamil Akhmetov made a presentation of the program WorldWide Telescope at the Spring Astronomical Conference of the teachers,  students, school students and amateur astronomers.

Novosibirsk

Planetarium of the Siberian State Academy of Geodesy on the 15th of January celebrated its 60th anniversary. It's small,  with only 60 seats,  but very active. Under the leadership of its director, Ellen Lugovskoi together with the Novosibirsk instrument-making plant this planetarium held in the surroundings of the city already six Siberian astronomical forums,  which annually attract about five hundred participants. On February 8, another planetarium was opened in Novosibirsk. It operates an auditorium of 114 seats with a dome diameter of 16 meters and a digital system Barco,  two observatories,  a separately standing tower Foucault,  there are also exhibition halls,  and movie studio,  which means that the planetarium director Sergei Maslikov aims to create full dome programs. The new planetarium on the status is considered as Children's Educational Institution,  there are also equipped classrooms for students.
