1 A: What do you do, Mr. Collins?

B: I’m a biologist.

A: Do you like your profession?

B: Very much. Biology is a very interesting science.

A: Have you tried anything else?

B: No, never. I was attracted to biology even as a schoolboy.

 

2 A: Will you please tell me about your occupation?

B: I’m an engineer at a design institute.

A: What does your institute do?

B: We design hydro-electric power stations.

A: Do you have any orders from abroad?

B: Yes, we have close business relations with many foreign countries. I have to travel very much. That’s why I’m learning English.

A: Are you satisfied with your work?

B: Yes, I enjoy it greatly.

3 A: I can’t make head or tail of this article, Paul.

B: Of course, you were never good at Chemistry.

A: Yes, but I’m astonished how well you know things.

B: Well, Pete. It’s my future profession after all.

4 A: Say, George, have you chosen a profession for yourself?

B: Yes, I have. I’m really a programmer by calling.

A: I shouldn’t say so. You seem to be very good at painting.

B: Well, that’s only my hobby.

5 A: How old is your young brother?

B: But I have no brothers.

A: Isn’t this kid your brother?

B: Oh, no, he’s my nephew.

6 A: What relationship is Jack to you?

B: Well, he’s my remote kinsman.

Choose the correct word in each sentence.
