I live in the town of Suzdal. There are city hospital, women’s health center, children hospital, patient treatment center and many pharmacies in our town. Our city hospital consists of emergency department, obstetrics and gynecology department, surgical department, ICU, gastroenterology unit, ophthalmology department, ENT unit, pediatrics, cardiology department, surgery department, ambulatory surgery, neurosurgery department, psychoneurology unit, nephrology department, urology unit, proctology unit, diagnostic testing and nuclear imaging, X-ray and radiology.

My aunt works in the Suzdal city hospital. She is a health care professional. She is a surgeon and she works in the surgical department of the Suzdal city hospital. My aunt is a very skilled professional and does difficult operations on her patients.

My sister is a hospital nurse. She likes her work, because she loves people and likes to care for them. Patients love her, because she is very kind to them and always helpful.

5. All nursing personnel is highly trained and works with love and patience because inattentiveness leads to serious mistakes.

Every year many young people who really care for medicine enter medical institutes and colleges.

This year we became students of our Vladimir Medical College, General Duty Nurse Department. Now we do our best to master our future profession. Besides there are departments which prepare: doctor’s assistants, dentists, prosthodontists and pharmacists.

The main subject in our department is Nursing Course. So we have practical classes in Therapy, Surgery, Obstetrics and Pediatrics.

During the three-year period the students have regular Practical Trainings at the town hospitals, where they gain the necessary knowledge and experience of medicine.

At the end of each academic year medical students pass their examination session. And in the first, second and third years they also have credit tests in English. Final state exams are at the end of the course of studies.

Vladimir Medical College was founded in 1909 as a mid-wife school. The college is the oldest educational institution in Vladimir region. During the I and II World Wars college played very important role. Special nurses for care of wounded soldiers graduated from the college in 1914 and 1941-45. Since 1954 medical college increased education of different specialists and became the principle college in Vladimir and Ivanovo region. From 1954 to 1997 a two-year course of education was given to nurses, mid-wives, doctor's assistants, pharmacists, sanitary doctor’s assistants and orthopedists, a three-year course of education was given to dentists.

From the moment of building Vladimir medical college prepared about 20,000 specialists. Since 1997 there is a three year course of education for nurses, doctor's assistants, pharmacists, dentists, orthopedists. Besides a four-year course of education of higher level was introduced for family nurses, general practice doctor's assistants and head nurses. Till nowadays more than 2,000 practical health care workers of Vladimir and region were educated on the base of medical college, including nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, dentistsand prosthodontists for all Vladimir health care practices. The main part of nursing staff of all health care institutions in Vladimir is the college graduates.

The teaching staff of Vladimir medical college is highly educated. It consists of 49 teachers, 46 of them have high and 3 secondary education. 26, 5% of teachers have the highest professional level, 3 teachers of postgraduate level and 13 teachers got awards from the Russian Health Care Ministry. All teachers of the college increase their professional level on the base of Moscow Educational Center, Medical Academies in Moscow, Ivanovo and Yaroslavl.

Vladimir Medical College is an active participant of nursing reform. The college works according to the state federal educational standards. Since 1997 Vladimir Medical college has social subjects in its curriculum, such as "TB Care", "HIV Care", "AIDS Prevention", "Oncology", "Healthy Life" and others. Vladimir medical college is an active member of Medical Partnership Committee of Bloomington USA and Vladimir and active participant of 3 partnership projects.
