3. Course prerequisites – theoretical base of the course is based on knowledge of following disciplines: biology, chemistry, physics, geography and first military preparation.

4. Course postrequisites -main fundamentals of this course are used in studying of next disciplines: philosophy, technosphere, labour protection and safety.

Course description.

- Aim of offered discipline: to form students' theoretical knowledge on the basics of ecology and laws of sustainable development of the nature and society, as well as practical skills in the use of environmental safety regulatory legislation.

- Short content: the general concept of ecology as a theoretical base for the protection of society and nature; relationship of organisms with the environment; the biosphere-noosphere concept of V. Vernadsky; definition of the concept of "sustainable development"; global environmental problems (climate change, ozone depletion, acid rain, desertification, loss of biodiversity, pollution of the oceans, and others.), their causes and consequences; modern social and environmental challenges and sustainable development; current status and negative environmental factors; safety principles of human interaction with the environment; forecasting of emergency situations of natural and technogenic characters; measures to protect the population and the staff of national economy in emergency situations (accidents, catastrophes and natural disasters); legal, regulatory, technical and organizational bases of ecological safety; environmental control and monitoring in the area of environmental safety management and environmental protection.

 

study results: after studying the students must:

Have performance about: ecology and basics of life safety; interaction of organisms with their environment; modern environmental problems and causes of their origin; the term technosphere; identification principles of harmful factors; prognosis of emergency cases and development of measures on protection of population and economic objects in peace and military time; legal and normative basics n the field of life safety; measures on nature conservation and sustainable use.

А. Knowledge and understanding of:

– ecology as a theoretical base of nature conservation and environmental management, the relationship of organisms to environmental factors and habitat conditions, the biosphere-noosphere concept of V.Vernadsky, the concept of sustainable development;

– potential hazards of natural and technogenic origin, ways to reduce the anthropogenic impact on the environment;

– modern environmental problems: global and regional, environmental safety mechanisms such as components of the national security of RK;

– regulatory and legal documents in view of the advanced domestic and foreign experience in the field of environmental safety (radiation, chemical, biological, social, etc.), environmental standards and control;

– basics on the analysis and conduction of environmental monitoring, taking into account the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors, as well as emergency ecological character;

– The basic laws that govern the interaction of living organisms with the environment, sources of pollution, the impact of environmental factors on human health;

– Solutions to environmental problems, taking into account regulatory and legislative documents in the field of environmental safety;

– Environmental assessment of the state of the region within the conduction of qualitative monitoring;

– Planning of measures for the protection of workers and population in emergencies of natural and technogenic character;

– Ways to protect the population and elimination of consequences of emergency situations of natural and technogenic character;

– Use of tools of individual and collective protection at the emergencies;

С. The ability to make judgments, evaluation of ideas and formulation of conclusions:

– On the use of the acquired knowledge of the laws governing the interaction of living organisms and the environment in practical activities to ensure the sustainable development of the biosphere;

– On modern concepts and strategies for the sustainable development of society and nature, aimed at preserving the stability of the biosphere and environmental safety;

– To provide timely solutions for protection of the population, personnel at the conditions of emergency situations (accidents, natural disasters, etc.) with the use of individual and collective protection.

– basics on the analysis and conduction of environmental monitoring, taking into account the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors, as well as emergency ecological character;

– Planning of measures for the protection of workers and population in emergencies of natural and technogenic character;

– Ways to protect the population and elimination of consequences of emergency situations of natural and technogenic character;
